FAQs
What does my session fee cover?
The session fee covers the photographers time, talent,
and
matierals. There is much more time involved in your
session
than the session appointment alone. The photographer
spends
several hours making sure your photographs are just
right
before you ever see them. Previews or proofs are not
included
with your session fee, but may be purchased.
When and where can I see my
previews?
An appointment to see your previews will be made at
the
time of your session, usually within 10-14 days. If
requested,
an online gallery can be put up for the 3 days prior
to
your ordering appointment so that family members who
can
not attend the appointment can make thier print
choices.
How long do you keep my portraits on
file?
Because of limited storage space, only the poses
ordered
at your ordering appointment will be archived for one
year.
All other poses will kept on file for 30 days after
the
order session. Any orders made from archived poses
after
the 30 days will incur a 10% fee. At the end of the 30
days
or 1 year, files will be deleted.
What should my child or family wear?
Your face should be the focal point of your portraits.
Long
sleeve solids or very subtle prints are usually the
most
flattering in portraits. Traditional styles will stand
the
test of time and keep your portrait looking fresh for
years
to come. Select solid colors, avoiding stripes and
patterns.
You will also want to avoid logos and other company
branding.
Solid-colored dresses, khakis, denim and overalls
always
work well, and are simple and timeless. Hats can also
be
very effective. Adults typically look best in
long-sleeved
shirts. For women, we will have more flexibility in
creating
the portrait if you wear pants rather than skirts,
since
a skirt may limit the ability to pose you on the
ground,
for example. If you have questions or can't make up
your
mind, bring a few outfits and we can help you pick the
one(s)
that will best suit your child's session.
Shoes: I strongly prefer to photograph
children
with bare feet. Their little toes are so incredibly
cute,
it's a shame to cover them. If they must wear shoes,
the
simpler, the better. Try to leave the cartoon
sneakers
at home! Other: Please make sure your child's
fingernails
are trimmed and clean. Small blemishes on the face
are
not a problem, as they can be removed in the final
image.
What should I bring with me to my portrait
session?
Children or Babies: If you have any special objects,
toys,
blankets, etc, that have a special meaning to you,
please
bring them. We will try to find a way to incorporate
them
into you child's session. Also things that will
comfort
your baby if he or she gets cranky. There will be time
for
breaks, so bring small snacks or treats for them.
Seniors: Bring anything that makes a
statement
about you! Bring your team sports uniforms and
equipment,
your dance gear, your car, and even your friend (ask
about
our seniors buddy special). Choose a VARIETY of
outfits.
It's a good idea to include both casual and more
formal
outfits in your senior portraits. You choose a
couple
and let Mom choose one or two, that way everyone is
happy.
Don't forget to bring your jewelry, especially your
class
ring. You should wear your hair in your regular
style.
Guys should NOT have a fresh haircut. If you need a
trim,
have it done about a week before. Get a good night's
rest,
relax and be ready for a great portrait session!
Families: Try to choice colors that
complement
everyone in the family. While you don't all have to
be
wearing the same shirt or even the exact same color,
its
best to stay with in the same color grouping (ie.
all
blues, all greens, or all tans, etc.)
